The Bookplate Art Project – Gold Coast

The Book Plate Art Project is coming to the City of Gold Coast Council Libraries in September 2025. Artists with a connection to the Gold Coast area are commissioned by the Project to create a series of small artworks in response to books or stories. The creative community is also invited to take part and share their art.

The Bookplate Art Project – Redlands

The Book Plate Art Project came to Redlands City Council Libraries in June 2025. Artists with a connection to the Redlands Coast were commissioned to create a series of small artworks responding to a book or stories.

The Bookplate Art Project – Brisbane

In 2024 twelve artists with a connection to Brisbane were commissioned by the Project to create book plate artworks for Brisbane Libraries. 1000 bookplates were made by commissioned and volunteer artists for readers to discover.

The commissioned artists included five First Nations artists Jody Rallah, Sam Harrison, David Jones and Chelsea Carkeet and Miss Gertrude and non-Indigenous artists including photographer Marian Drew, artist Nick Olsen and others.

The Home Turf event was funded by a Creative Sparks Grant from the Brisbane City Council and is curated by Leanne McIntyre, Home Turf Art. The Creative Sparks Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council to support local arts and culture in Brisbane.
